Groundhog Day first became an American holiday in the 1800s when some believed that if a groundhog came out of its burrow and saw its shadow, it would pop back in for six more weeks of winter – if it didn’t see its shadow, then we would be blessed with an early Spring. The second day of the month is ruled by the High Priestess card which represents intuition and psychic skills – making it a great day for a groundhog to make a weather prediction!
