Confessions of a Tea Leaf Reader

Tea By Psychic Ariel ext. 9775

Although I am an intuitive psychic and spiritual advisor, I’ll admit it, I love to read the leaves — tea leaves that is.

As I tell my clients, all disciplines are paths to the same end, but, in truth, the leaves seem to give just a little more. For me, I find the leaves give names, initials, and yes, even sentences. I’ve gotten “yes” to answers, the name of a person in question, the words “Mom,” “thank you,” “love,” and more.

I never fail to be surprised at the words that appear in the cup!

As I put my gaze on the cup and it’s many secrets when reading in person, my clients always say they are amazed by all the information that comes out of the cup. And we must not forget the saucer. Within this circular object lie many bits of information as well.

A couple of years ago, I found the perfect tea cup, an unusual one, black on the outside with a beautiful sprawling red rose on the inside. Certainly not your average English or Japanese style.

I started reading the leaves about seven years ago, and, at first was a bit apprehensive. However, the artist in me kicked in and found the translating of shapes to be interesting, natural and amazing. Today the cup never fails to surprise and amaze me.

As in life, the more you look, the more you see… So in the cup, the more I read, the more I see. I’ve seen hearts, family trees, dragons, animal prints, spirits and much, much more within the tiny teacup. Sometimes, after going around the cup once, I‘m led to “take another tour” around, finding new shapes and combinations that tell the story in even more detail.

There are various ways to prepare the leaves and have the client put their energies in, and I’ve developed a way to do the process that definitely works for me.

To begin with I usually prepare a special blend of leaves, a mix of several different kinds. I like the loose leaves, and preferably the ones that come in those very nifty metal containers. I’ve found some particular leaves, like jasmine, seem to give more pronounced pictures and words. I first have my clients turn the cup around three times (upside down on the saucer) before placing their left hand over the cup. This is when they have their turn to put their own energies into it.

Some readers use the bottom of the cup as the past, others the right (or left hand side). When I begin reading the cup, I usually start at the handle and read to the right. After going around the cup once, I sometimes turn it upside down and have another turn around the tea cup.

I find tea leaf reading is similar to reading the Tarot or Angel cards, or for that matter, interpreting dreams. One should never read one symbol alone, but rather in accord with everything around it. Something like in life, when we say “everything is relative to everything else.”

My Angel guides help to determine how much tea to put into a cup, which tea blend to use and when to stop reading the cup at all. I have customers who love the tea and will not have anything else. As for myself, I find it, pleasantly addictive.

I am also a tea leaf reader. My parents are born and raised in Ireland, and we all know the significance of tea in Ireland. One day I watched an Aunt read leaves for a friend of my Moms and I always knew I was syhcic so I asked her how she did that. My first reading was so wild it would be all the way on or all the way off. It was right on. It is a powerfull medium of divination and It comes naturally to me. Tea anyone?

    Hi Cira,
We can love many different people throughout our lives, but when you’ve found “the one,” your heart knows it! THAT’S what is so special.
    Blessings to you!!

    Hi Cherilyn,
Thnx very much for your kind comments. I quite agree. Tea leaves are a messy cleanup. It’s so much fun to do, however, and quite like painting when you make a mess, that it’s worth the effort~!
    Much luv & lite,

I started out over 25 years ago by reading tea leaves, and it did a great deal to develop my clairvoyant abilities. Alas, once I began to see images without the tealeaves, I became lazy because it is such a very messy cleanup!
The first reading I ever had done for me was a tea leaf reading. She was amazing, and one of the reasons I picked up the teacup in the first place.
    I loved your article!

    Hi Maryanne,
I’ve always wanted to go to New Orleans, but haven’t made it yet…
I find reading the pictures in the leaves appeals to the artist in me.
    Thnx for your kind comments.
    Much luv & lite~!

    Hi Fran,
Your cup sounds interesting. My first cup for reading the leaves had symbols all over it, but I find I like the “regular” cups more.
    Thnx for your kind comments.
    Much luv & lite,
    Ariel

    Hi Karen,
It seems as if you have good intuition, and even better, you are listening to it. You will find a discipline that resounds with you, then go with it~~whether it is tea leaf reading, tarot or something else.
    Much luv & lite,
    Ariel

    Ariel,
Thanks for a great, informative article on the reading of tea leaves.
I visit tea leave readers every time I have a chance to be in New Orleans, and have done so since I was in my 20’s.
I am also delighted that you are keeping this tradition alive.
    Sincerely,

    Hi Ariel,
My GrandMother, ( sister to my Great Aunt, a well known clairvoyant in her day ), read tea leaves ( and coffee grounds)…said it was an Irish/Scottish thing.
She was fairly accurate at it too….that’s kind of a lost skill & art nowadays….glad to hear you are still keeping it alive.
Your articles are always interesting and informative. Ariel….keep up the great work !!

    Hi Ariel,
This article was just my “cup of tea!” A few months ago, I purchased a lovely tea cup and saucer made specifically for reading tea leaves. It’s interesting because the inside of the cup contains pictures and the bottom of the cup is imprinted with symbols. The saucer also has symbols….the twelve signs of the zodiac. I haven’t used it yet, but I sure would like to give it a try.
Once, many years ago, my friend and I went to have our tea leaves read. It was fascinating. The tea room was warm and inviting, and the reader seemed very exotic. After reading my tea leaves, she told me that someone loved me very much, and he would love me for the rest of his life. I didn’t understand at the time, because I wasn’t involved with anyone. But now as I look back on that experience, I think she was talking about someone who is in my life now, 25 years later!
    Keep these wonderful articles coming!!
    ~Fran
