The Mystic, the Artist & the Addict: Janis Joplin’s Chart
The harmonics are a fascinating and lesser utilized method of chart interpretation, that astrologer Bob Marks has described as one of the greatest advances in astrological analysis of the last hundred years. The harmonic is a way of probing into one aspect of the psyche in depth: for example, the 9th Harmonic expresses the essence of your soul and what you’re looking for in a soul mate. The 5th Harmonic is your mind, and great for planning book launches, classes, new learning cycles and writing projects as well as understanding your deeper communication patterns. The 7th Harmonic, or the higher frequency of Neptune, is an amazing access to your spirit, your psychic abilities, your artistic gifts—but also any challenges with addictions, emotional problems or setting boundaries.
Any astrologer with software can extract the harmonics from your natal chart and interpret them just as you would your birth chart; or if you call me for a reading. I’ll always be happy to incorporate this into your session to provide you even greater insight into your gifts, if this is of interest.
The 7th harmonic is amazingly revealing particularly in the charts of artists, performers, psychics, mystics, psychics, channels and intuitives with the shadow side revealing issues with mental illness, addiction, co-dependency and sociopathic behavior. All the symbolic resonances of the planet Neptune are associated with the number 7, which is a mystical and magical number.
Janis Joplin’s Chart: Her Massive Gifts and Her Ultimate Downfall
Here we look at Janis Joplin’s chart to reveal her exceptional artistic gifts but also her challenges – that in the end were fatal – with addiction. We’ll see how these charts illustrate the artistic psyche of one of the world’s most iconic rock and roll, blues artists Janis Joplin. Joplin was known as well for her great gifts as a singer/performer as for her notable excesses with alcohol (notably) and drugs (particularly heroin) which resulted in her early death at 27.
Janis Joplin’s 7th Harmonic Chart
In Janis Joplin’s natal chart we find a woman who was bigger than life, and whose own mother said she could never get enough attention. The chart of her actual death from a drug overdose is shocking and seems to point to a larger destiny through her death. Certainly Janis Joplin, perhaps in part due to her early death, her prolific artistic output, and the tragic nature of her death has become a legend.
In fact the likelihood of Janis Joplin dying of a drug overdose was slim. Partially because she had stopped doing heroin for the last seven months prior to her death. Additionally, the dealer who sold Janis the heroic always had a taster check the heroin for safety and potency. On that night, that person was traveling.
The heroin that Janis Joplin ingested that night was eight times the normal potency that an average human could tolerate. And, in fact, eight others died of an overdose that night from the same batch.
The uncanny prophetic indicators of the moment of death are actually depicted in the transits to her 7th harmonic that point to a larger destiny. This mythic mystical opening for her transition would move her life to its larger destiny. Through her death, Joplin would always be remembered as an artistic and creative icon noted for the shortness and brilliance of her creative lightening impact on a generation. Her tragic, somehow, fateful death to drugs has moved the memory of her short and brilliant life to the level of legend.
