A remake of the iconic 1980s TV show The A-Team hits theaters this weekend, starring Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Jessica Biel and two relative newcomers: South African actor Sharlto Copely (District 9) and mixed martial artist Quinton Jackson of UFC fame. The Gulf oil spill, which erupted on May 20 and is still pumping what some suspect to be up to 70,000 barrels of oil into the ocean (BP has claimed that only 5,000 barrels have leaked) is one of the worst environmental disasters in United States history.
Though it has been referred to as an “oil spill” in the news, the reality is that it was caused by a botched BP cementing job on the ocean floor, where a fracture in a badly constructed cement block ruptured and opened an oil vent into the sea.
