Stop Being Polite and Get Mad

If I see one more person hold it in, swallow their emotions and let someone walk all over them, I’ll get pissed off. Where in our conservative Western society did we learn that we cannot show our emotions? I’ve seen time and time again, women who have every right to be mad, but don’t show their emotions.

I was so angry that I ate my way up to 300 pounds. I literally swallowed my emotions and became someone who couldn’t voice her own opinion. It’s harmful, degrading, disappointing and downright pitiful, when we cannot feel free to just explode without repercussion. Read the rest of this entry »

5 Easy Steps to Make Your New Year’s Resolutions Succeed

December 27, 2011 at 9:00 am
By Greg Dinkin

This Year, Keep Your Resolutions

The New Year brings a clean slate and with it, an exciting opportunity. This feeling of perfection is often what gets you excited about creating new resolutions and makes you feel motivated to succeed. The downside is that once you break that resolution, you often feel so deflated that you give up. That’s why I created a 5-step method that sets you up for success. And yes, as promised, there are no restrictions.

My philosophy stems from the notion that we create what we focus on. That’s why I place the emphasis on doing the positive things that give you pleasure. When you talk about what you don’t want or what you want to quit (smoking, coffee or complaining), you create images of the very things you are trying to avoid. It’s much more effective to focus on what you will do to replace those old habits. For a limited time, get the 5-step Dinkin Method on video. Read the rest of this entry »

You Don’t Need to Break the Bank to Show Love

You don’t need much money to express your love for family and friends with special holiday gifts. All you need is some time and thoughtful attention.

Souvenirs

If you’ve enjoyed going to a play or concert with your loved one, you can create a personalized souvenir of your time together by framing the program book, ticket stubs, and/or photos of the two of you at the event.

Music

Create a playlist of your shared favorite songs and burn them to a CD for your friends. Or create a list of your favorite holiday songs so that your friends can listen to your gift each year thereafter. Read the rest of this entry »

If you want to celebrate the Saturnalia/Opalia, you can honor all of your friends with various foods and decorations between December 17 and 21. Surviving the Holidays Single

Holidays are not something to survive; they are something to celebrate. When you view holidays from the perspective of gratitude and enjoyment, you will no longer mope because you are not attached to a lover at this time of year.

Benefits of Being Single

During the holiday season, you are free to go wherever you want to and whenever you want to. Unlike your coupled friends, you don’t need to coordinate with someone else’s schedule or decide whose family to visit each year. You can create your own traditions—or stay home if you want to. Your life has no relationship restrictions right now, so enjoy the freedom.

“Seek the happiness inside yourself and your dreams will unfold.” – Claire ext. 5242
