2 Questions to Ask to Keep Your Job

June 18, 2010 at 1:11 pm

When we apply for and actually get a job, it seems that everything will be smooth going. We have a job, a weekly paycheck, some peace of mind and security at last! However, there may be pitfalls coming that can be avoided if you know what to ask your employer ahead of time. There are two topics you should raise before you risk getting fired!

1. Upon starting your job, ask your supervisor about evaluations of performance and when these should occur. Hopefully, an evaluation will take place early enough during the probationary period that has been designated (most companies have these probationary periods, whether they say so or not). Career Coaching: Move Sideways!

June 12, 2010 at 1:11 pm
By Psychic Tansy ext. 5289

The economy has been hard on everyone, from the people who have permanently lost their jobs, to the ones who have been desperately seeking work to supplement a spouse’s decreased income, to the person just attempting to break into the job market for the first time. This also includes people who have been in the same job for some time and realize that for whatever reason, they must make a career change. I receive quite a few callers who want to know where to look next, what to attempt next, where there is a job for them.

I have found it quite interesting that when I receive these calls, I do not automatically receive a message that translates psychically as “Apply at the ABC Company” or perhaps “Send your resume to Smith-Jones, Inc.” What I have been receiving quite a bit are suggestions from my guides (whom I have always found to be quite practical) to move in more of a sideways direction – that is, not to look at replacing the exact job that has been lost (or the one that one seems to be 100% qualified for), but to direct the search towards a brand-new area, where one has the skills that were perhaps acquired in a hobby, coupled with some of the skills that one used in past employment. 10 Signs It’s Time to Walk Away

June 9, 2010 at 11:11 am
By Staff

It’s summer, and the living is supposed to be easy… but you’re the Captain of Stressville. You only know it’s summer because the kids are tugging on you for more spending money, and the summer Fridays just went into effect at work… which means you can now leave the office at five p.m. instead of nine.

What’s worse – a job driving you off the ledge, or an unsupportive partner? Here are a few signs it’s time to take care of yourself and make a change as the season heats up!

  1. Your boss or partner has poor time management, and no respect for tasks you need to complete.
  2. Your boss/partner quotes your ideas and stories verbatim and doesn’t give you credit.
  3. You have completely different ideas than your partner or boss about how to move forward, whether it’s about a vacation or getting a promotion. Read the rest of this entry »

Psychic Tansy’s Career Coaching

June 6, 2010 at 1:11 am
By Psychic Tansy ext. 5289

Kim in Fort Wayne writes:

I believe that I was being guided two years ago to leave a bad relationship and good job in order to move from WI to IN. Since I’ve been here, I’ve had to learn how to be more humble and live for thirteen months with my daughter and family. Talk about rough.

I had a very hard time finding a job, let alone a full-time one. I now live on my own, but I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to stay here without having to get a second job and working non-stop just to have a place to sleep. Or beg my daughter if I can move back in. She is now expecting another child. I would have to give up on going to school because of the jobs.

I am so down and discouraged right now, I’ve been feeling just numb. Please HELP. Read the rest of this entry »

A Perfect Career

June 2, 2010 at 11:11 am
By Psychic Tansy ext. 5289

Carey from Flint, Michigan asks:

I recently changed careers. I felt that my first position was a perfect fit, but did not work out. I was told that this was not because of my skills, but because I wasn’t “engaged” with the team. I wasn’t sure what this meant, and couldn’t get a clear answer from them. I have since changed employers, and enjoy what I do. Is this another growth experience for me, or a fulfilling, long lasting career? Read the rest of this entry »

Career Building Tips

June 1, 2010 at 1:11 am

When I was in the fifth grade, I knew a girl named Christine who wanted to be a doctor. And I discovered, just the other day, that Christine had become a doctor – a very good and respected one. But what about the rest of us? Have we grown up to achieve the career that we dreamed of when we were young (like being an astronaut, doctor or firefighter)? Or have we settled for the career we thought we should want? Equally depressing, have we taken what we believed was the only thing we could get, handicapped by the negative expectations of not only others, but ourselves? I believe that poor career karma (cause and effect) can be changed into something very rewarding for ourselves, by basic recognition of this state and the intention to change it into something more fulfilling.

Sex and the City 2 Astrology

May 19, 2010 at 1:11 am
By Staff

They’re back! Following the massive success of 2008’s film version of the popular HBO TV show, Sarah Jessica Parker and the ladies of Sex and the City make their return to the box office this weekend, bringing their trademark sass and style to an overseas (and cross-cultural) adventure in Abu Dhabi. What is it about this fabulous foursome that strikes such a chord with women worldwide? Let’s have a look at their stars to see!

Sarah Jessica Parker
As Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker transitioned from supporting actress to superstar. Playing the unlucky in love sex columnist who eventually settles down with the (highly flawed but uber-charming) man of her dreams Mr. Big, Parker oozes spunky relatability. And no wonder! With Sun, Venus and Mercury in fiery Aries (giving her that special spark), a slightly zany Mars in Virgo, and an emotionally stable Capricorn Moon, she’s born to play the unassuming It Girl we all aspire to be… Read the rest of this entry »
