DreamCast: The Hidden Meanings of Recurring Dreams

Jane from Princeton, New Jersey writes:

I have been facing a very difficult situation in my life with family and love. There are two dreams which have repeated for the past two-three years, especially when I’m stressed. One dream is about me standing on the beach and looking at a tsunami coming my way. I always run away from it to higher ground, sometimes grabbing my best friend or sometimes grabbing my boyfriend (but who is actually not my boyfriend in real life). I run up on a mountain and see people gathering on the beach who are curious about the withdrawing ocean. I want to warn them, but they don’t pay attention. I survive it every time in the dream.

In the second dream, I see different plane crashes, but all I see is the plane from the outside, as if I’m watching it happen from the sky. I don’t see people in the plane but I know they are inside it. The plane always crashes and then I wake up.

I’m really not sure what my dreams are trying to tell me, but because they are repeating again and again, I know they mean something. I have had such a tough life for the past eight years; it seems ridiculous and unfair for anyone to go through what I am going through. I hope you can shed some light to my situation. Journey Into Your Dreams: Connect With Loved Ones

July 15, 2011 at 5:00 am
By Theresa Danna

Recognizing Visitation Dreams

When I was 12 years old, my 29-year-old brother died in Vietnam. Over the years, I don’t recall ever dreaming about him. Then one night I had a dream in which he and I were walking together down an empty road. We were both adults. The dream seemed so real that I asked him, “Are you alive again, or am I dead?” He smiled and said, “It’s a little of both.”

Quantum Physics

At the time I was exploring quantum physics, particularly in relation to paranormal experiences. From one lecture I had learned that when we sleep, our “particle” body and “wave” spirit separate. Our spirit then has the ability to mingle with other wave energy, including other discarnate spirits. As my brother so plainly described it, the living can become a little bit like the dead, and the dead can become a little bit like the living. This gives us the ability to meet in the dream realm, where the rules of traditional physical science no longer apply. Read the rest of this entry »

DreamCast: Stop Running and Face Your Fears

July 8, 2011 at 5:00 am
By Cortney Litwin

Misty in Mobile, Alabama writes:

In my dream I’m waiting to get on a plane or starship that’s supposed to take me to safety somewhere. There are lines of pilots of different ethnic backgrounds dressed in what looks like spaceship (Star Trek) clothing. The suits are alike except for different colors, and represent different nations. The planes are the colors of the spacesuits the men are wearing. They’re lined up above my head. I’m waiting to be told which plane/starship to board. I’m told by a strange man that there is water flooding below us and we don’t have much time, but there is no guarantee that flying away will save us.

I suspect this must mean I’m subconsciously hoping to escape something or in fear of something, and want secretly to fly away or run away. Read the rest of this entry »

3 Secrets of Dream Journaling

July 1, 2011 at 5:00 am
By Cortney Litwin

Because your dreams are a direct link to your body, mind, heart and soul, working with them can help you realize your aspirations, guide your direction and accelerate your spiritual growth. Keeping a dream journal is an excellent way to get started on this path of self-discovery. Here’s what you need to know…

1. Recall Your Dreams

I frequently hear the lament, “I never remember my dreams!” from people who repeatedly awaken with a blank slate. If you’re one of these dreamless sleepers, take note: The secret to recalling your dreams is to pay attention to them. Seriously. Think of your dreams as children who blossom when you appreciate how valuable they are. Read the rest of this entry »

DreamCast: Release Your Creativity to Regain Your Balance

June 24, 2011 at 5:00 am
By Cortney Litwin

Christina in London writes:

I had two very similar dreams in a couple of days …

Dream #1: I was entered into a competitive salsa dancing TV show. I was very excited about this since I love dancing, although I’m no dance teacher. Then I realized that I’m the “expert” dancer, and I had to wait for my celebrity dance partner. I found out that it was David Beckham (famous UK footballer). At first, I didn’t recognize the name—I said to myself, “David Bechman, Beck-ham,” and then it fell into place. I also got to meet his famous wife (Posh Spice/Victoria), and she gave me the once-over to make sure that there would be no hanky-panky between us, but also to make sure I could handle David. The dream ended.

Dream #2: I was entered into a singing competition on TV—I didn’t know about it, and I had one hour to find something to sing. I wanted to sing something new, but there was only time for something old, so I picked a song from the musical “Cabaret.” I could remember all the words, and I felt that I could sing it okay—people were giving me good feedback. The dream ended as I entered the stage.

The funny thing is that I do have a natural talent for singing and dancing (especially salsa), but I’m not up to performance standards as I don’t have time to practice. So part of me is wondering if this is a literal dream about performance or a metaphor for my life or work, or even a bit of both. Can you help? Read the rest of this entry »

DreamCast: Take a Chance to Be With Your True Love

June 17, 2011 at 5:00 am
By Cortney Litwin

Christine from Marysville, Ohio writes:

I’m dating a guy right now who I went to high school with. Well, we’re kinda dating. We don’t see each other very often, like maybe once a week or less. We text a little, too. We both have been through two very bad past relationships, so we are trying to take this slowly. We both have older children and both have a toddler from our past relationships. They are only five months apart in age and get along great. My guy and I are both forty years old, and neither of us wants to have any more children. He’s a Virgo, and I’m a Pisces.

Recently, I dreamed I was pregnant with his child. I mean, I could see my stomach moving and feel the baby moving inside me—and it kinda hurt. I knew the baby was a boy. My mother was the only one with me, and I had her feel my belly to watch how much movement there was. Although, the whole time, I kept having doubts that I could carry the baby, and I’m not sure my guy would even want me to carry the baby. He may have not known about the baby, because I hadn’t told him about it. Read the rest of this entry »

DreamCast: When Dreams Reveal Your Power Animal

June 10, 2011 at 5:00 am
By Cortney Litwin

Paula in Tucson, Arizona writes:

In my dreams recently, I have been encountering a huge brightly colored male tiger. I am outside, trying to find a warm place to sleep. When I wake, this tiger has curled up with his paws around me. It feels like he’s trying to protect me somehow. The dream then changes to where I can hear him and feel his presence, but he’s just in the shadows. Does this reflect the man I’ve been seeing?

Hello Paula,

If your guy is warm and protective, then the dream could certainly be a reflection of his character and how he feels about you. More likely, though, the tiger symbolizes the “male” side of your psyche, in Jungian terms. This is the assertive, logical part of you that balances the passive, receptive feminine side of your nature. It also serves to protect you. What’s more, although you feel and hear the tiger, he remains in the shadows, which indicates you’re aware of this energy, but it resides mainly in your unconscious. Your feminine side is your dominant energy. Read the rest of this entry »

Red Responds: Get Psychic Guidance on Your Dreams

June 4, 2011 at 5:00 am
By Psychic Red ext. 9226

Valerie of Irvine, California asks:

Every time I dream, I dream of being in my hometown. Why is that?

Psychic Red ext. 9226 Responds:

Dear Valerie,

It is very common for people to experience dreams of their hometown, or snippets of reality and fantasy of childhood. To fully explore and understand your dreams, and why your subconscious is placing you in your hometown, it would be best for you to talk to someone who specializes in dream interpretation. Discussing the details, especially repeated symbolism, can really help to make more detailed sense of the dreams you’ve been having.

When we dream, our minds often mix influences from the past, present, and sometimes—future. A common explanation given for dreams that place you in your hometown is that you are burdened with unexpressed feelings and repressed emotions. From a psychic perspective, it seems as if that interpretation does apply to you. From what I can see, you’ve been feeling a little stuck and stagnated in your waking life, and your frustration is being released and reflected in your dreams. Read the rest of this entry »
