Divining for Myself
I often talk to callers who utilize their own predictive resources. They call to get a confirmation of what they are "getting" and I have on occasion found it necessary to recite the statement, "The physician who diagnoses himself has a fool for a patient." A long time ago I used the Tarot on myself. Over and over again I would throw the cards to finally get the answer that I needed. Accurate information was not my objective. Many professional psychics can't read for themselves. Subjectivity is always an issue. There was seldom a time when I could be objective with my own readings. Over the years I have come to realize that the method that I utilize for personal readings MUST have this required objectivity built into the technique. I have found that system.
Confucious is reputed to have written that if he had another full life to live, he would have spent it devoted solely to the I-Ching - also known as the Book of Changes. Back in his day, Yarrow sticks would be cast in such a way to create a hexagram. That is, six separate vertical lines, either broken or unbroken - yielding 64 possible combinations. Each of these 64 hexagrams has a distinct meaning.
Today, it is possible to cast the I-Ching reading using only three coins, which are tossed six times to create the hexagram. The description is then read from a text, which was written thousands of years ago. There can be no conscious interference with the reading. However, this modernized system can be abused by persistent repetition. Unlike the Tarot, the I-Ching stopped me in my tracks.
I was experiencing, severe relationship issues at the time. I had just recently familiarized myself with the I-Ching. I was doing reading after reading. I was just not prepared to get what I was being shown, so strong was my need to have a particular outcome. Then, a moving line definition showed up and what I read made the hair on my neck stand up. It said,"I keep giving you the answer, and you keep not listening." From that moment on, whenever I do a personal reading, I only set up one hexagram, and I only refer to the I-Ching for serious issues. This means that I only read for myself a few times per year. I have learned respect.
The I-Ching reciprocates by always addressing my issue - not necessarily my question. The philosophical beauty and sensitivity of the wisdom presented by the I-Ching is timeless. It has never failed me. It always becomes an issue of, "Am I ready to hear?" I have learned over the years that it takes courage to face the truth. The truth is within. Courage creates easy access. Run with it.
